Welcome to IETF-87!

  • Jari ArkkoIETF Chair

12 Jul 2013

In two weeks, we will have the IETF-87 meeting in Berlin! The previous time IETF was in Germany was in August 1997 in Munich – that was too long ago and it is a pleasure to be back!

Berlin

I’m looking forward to collaborating with many talented and enthusiastic people throughout the meeting week.  And I’m very happy that according to registration statistics we will have a large number of first time attendees with us this time – I wish you all warmly welcome to the IETF!

DENIC is the platinum sponsor for IETF 87. Deutsche TelekomEURidDynECO, and ADVA Optical Networking are also sponsoring IETF 87.   DENIC has also organized a social event at the German Museum of Technology (Deutsches Technikmuseum). I am looking forward to it.  Deutsche Telekom is sponsoring the network connectivity.  Many thanks to our sponsors; we could not have a quality meeting without your strong support.

Our fourth Bits-N-Bites event will take place on Thursday evening.  It includes exhibitor tables, free food, and free drink.  Attendance optional, but our previous visitors seemed to have fun! The Bits-N-Bites sponsors are A10 NetworksDynComcastNominumIPSO AllianceHuaweiICANNInternet Society and others are signing up.  Thanks for making this event possible!

The agenda for the meeting can be found from the meeting page. I am particularly excited about the many new work proposals we have this time. The week includes 12 Birds of a Feather (BoF) meetings:
